 Orerokpe Road Race: Inspiring Youths Through Sports in Delta State  


The serene streets of Orerokpe in Okpe Kingdom, Warri, Delta State, came alive with energy and excitement as the inaugural Orerokpe Road Race took center stage. Organized by Dr. Chris Ovie, the 10-kilometer marathon drew athletes from Edo and Delta State, all eager to showcase their endurance and determination.  


The male category saw a thrilling competition, with Embah Godspower emerging victorious in a time of 47:20.52. Close on his heels was Obakanrhe Fega, who secured second place with a finish time of 48:20.06, while Chukwueweniwe Olisa Emmanuel completed the podium in 48:24.42.  


In the female category, Olumide Elizabeth Titi claimed the top spot with an impressive time of 50:06.55. Chukwuma Faith followed in second place, clocking in at 51:10.00, while Abu Ruth secured third place in 51:44.52.  


Winners in both categories were rewarded handsomely, with prizes of ₦100,000, ₦50,000, and ₦30,000 for the first, second, and third positions, respectively.  


Dr. Chris Ovie, the visionary behind the event, expressed his delight at the success of the race, emphasizing its significance. “This is more than a race; it is a movement to position the youths of this community towards embracing sports and healthy lifestyles,” he stated. He assured participants and spectators that future editions would be even bigger and better, with the goal of establishing the Orerokpe Road Race as a prominent event in Nigeria's marathon calendar.  


Adding to the prestige of the event, the Governor of Delta State Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori is a proud son of the Okpe Kingdom. 


Dr. Chris Ovie, highlighting the importance of sports in fostering unity and youth engagement. "This race is a testament to what can be achieved when communities rally around a shared vision. The next edition will undoubtedly raise the bar,” the organiser affirmed.  


The Orerokpe Road Race not only celebrated athletic prowess but also underscored the power of sports to unite communities and inspire the next generation. With such an impactful debut, the future of the event shines brightly.
