Eyoto Sports Academy Expands Horizons with 2025 Championship Plans




The Eyoto Sports Academy, a registered non-profit and non-governmental organization renowned for its dedication to nurturing young talent in Edo State, has announced groundbreaking plans for the 2025 edition of its championships. 


The Academy, which has steadily grown into a beacon of hope for aspiring athletes, is set to introduce Rugby as a new feature in addition to its traditional athletics events. Moreover, the athletics competition will now cater to both U15 and open categories, marking a significant expansion in the scope of the championship.


Speaking on the Academy’s journey and future, the Chairman, Chief Dr. Felix Idahosa, reflected on their remarkable achievements over the past five years:  

"What Eyoto Sports Academy is doing in Edo State is extraordinary, especially when we look back at our first five years. We are grateful to God. Our greatest joy is seeing young people compete with all their hearts and strengths. We are helping to turn raw talents into world-class athletes. As we look ahead, we want to continue carefully identifying, nurturing, and supporting these young athletes to accomplish their goals in sports and academics. The coaches also play a pivotal role in this effort. This is our hope."


The Treasurer of the Academy, Friday Enoye, a notable sports philanthropist, reinforced this sentiment by promising that the 2025 edition will surpass expectations:  

"We are committed to ensuring that the upcoming edition sets a new benchmark in terms of organization, competition, and talent discovery. Eyoto Sports Academy remains a platform for excellence."  


Dr. Festus Idahosa Erese, Vice President of the Academy, also expressed his excitement about the future:  "The Eyoto Executive Council is thrilled with the direction the organization is heading, particularly with the introduction of Rugby as a new feature alongside our traditional athletics events. This initiative showcases our commitment to diversifying sports and creating more opportunities for young athletes to shine."


In line with its mission to develop world-class athletes, Eyoto Sports Academy has awarded scholarship packages to ten outstanding young talents. These scholarships aim to provide both financial and academic support, enabling these athletes to focus on their development. The beneficiaries include:

2. Chisom Anayor - Female, The Lords Own Academy  

3. Abu Ruth - Female, Faith Land Secondary School  

4. Musa Aliat - Female, Ihogbe College  

5. Gift Ikechukwu - Female, Idia College  

6. Joy Joshua Omonigho - Female, The Lords Own Academy  

7. Obarodion Dominion - Female, Asoro Grammar School  

8. Usaida Ovie - Male, The Lords Own Academy  

9. Oyie Marvellous - Male, Edokpolor Grammar School  

10. Onuoha Chinonso Alexandra - Male, Ogbe Secondary School  


These athletes represent the future of Edo sports, and their inclusion in Eyoto’s scholarship program reflects the Academy’s commitment to turning raw talent into exceptional success stories.
